Modify Affiliate Commissions

Nanacast is known for being one of the most accurate and robust affiliate tracking platforms available on the market. However, there may be circumstances, such as when an affiliate link is used incorrectly, or an offer or coupon set up incorrectly, etc., that can result in having no commission awarded, the wrong affiliate credited, or the wrong commission amount awarded.

Now you can modify affiliate commissions for transactions that have already occurred. Modifying or adding an affiliate commission for a transaction will also associate the affiliate with the client that the transaction belongs to, ensuring that any future recurring transactions for that client will also be credited to the affiliate.

Affiliate commissions are tied to transactions, so they are modified from the transactions area. Here’s how:

Modifying/Declining affiliate commissions for individual transactions
There are several ways to reach an individual transaction record, but the easiest way is from the transactions area from the main menu under Sales & Transactions >> Transactions.

To view an individual transaction record, click the transaction ID from the TransID column.

At the bottom of the transaction record is the Affiliate Commission Details area. This will show any currently credited affiliate commission (and 2-Tier affiliate commission, at the Elite level.)
If there is not currently a commission credited for the transaction, there will be blank commission details as a placeholder (blank commissions do not affect commission totals on the Pay Affiliates report.)

Edit

The edit button will appear when:

  • There is an existing unpaid commission credited for the transaction

  • There is no commission credited for the transaction

It will not appear when the commission for a transaction has already been marked as paid.

The edit button will allow you to edit the Commission Amount and Affiliate fields for a commission. For transactions where there is already a commission awarded, you are overriding the current affiliate commission. For transactions where there was not previously a commission awarded, you are creating a new commission for an existing transaction.

Existing Commission:

New/Blank Commission:

Commission Amount: Provide the desired commission amount. Use this when overriding an existing commission amount or assigning a new commission.
Affiliate: Provide the Affiliate ID of the affiliate you want to credit the commission to. Use this when overriding the affiliate ID of an existing commission or assigning a new commission for the transaction.
If you don’t know the ID of the affiliate, you can find this from the main menu under Affiliate Manager >> My Affiliates. The system will validate whether the affiliate ID you provided is a valid affiliate ID that has been added to your affiliate program.

Once you’ve edited the commission details for a commission, click Commit to save your changes. Otherwise, click Cancel.

Decline

The decline button will appear when:

  • There is an existing unpaid commission credited for the transaction

It will not appear for a new/blank commission, or for transactions where the commission has already been marked as paid.

The decline button will allow you to decline the commissions so that it no longer appears as part of the commission owed the credited affiliate in the Pay Affiliates area. Use this when you just want to decline the existing commission.
When a commission has been declined, a blank commission will appear in its place, and a new commission can be awarded later, if needed.

The Decline button will prompt you to confirm the decline. Click OK to confirm the decline, or Cancel to leave the commission as-is.

2-Tier Commissions

At the Elite level, 2-Tier commissions can be edited or declined independently of the regular (1st Tier) commission, and are edited/declined just like regular commissions.

Modifying/Declining affiliate commissions in bulk

If you have multiple transactions that need the same commission amount and/or the same affiliate ID assigned, you can now do this in bulk from the Transactions page (from the main menu under Sales & Transactions >> Transactions).

This is handled very much like a Refund/Void/Delete of transactions:

  • Click the checkbox next to all the transactions you want to take action on (or use the Check/Uncheck All link at the bottom of the page)

  • Select the Modify Commission or Decline Commission option from the dropdown selection

Modify Commissions

When you select the Modify Commisions option, you will see a blank Affiliate Commission Details area, similar to an individual transaction page. However, the Commission Amount and Affiliate fields will always be blank.

The details you provide here will act as a complete override of any commission details assigned to any and all transactions you have checked. For transactions where there is already a commission awarded, you are overriding the current affiliate commission. For transactions where there was not previously a commission awarded, you are creating a new commission for an existing transaction.

Click Submit to apply the changes you’ve provided. (You will not be prompted to confirm the changes.)
If you apply changes to a large batch of transactions, it may take a few moments to apply all the changes to all of the transactions.

Once the changes are complete, the page will reload and notify you that the operation is complete, just like with Refunds. The new commission amounts and/or affiliate ID with display on the transaction records you have changed.

Decline Commissions

Simply select the Decline Commissions option and click the Submit button. You will not be prompted to confirm the changes.

When the page reloads, any and all transactions you had selected will now display no affiliate commission details.

If needed later, you can always use the Modify Commissions option to assign a new commission to transactions with no affiliate commission assigned.

2-Tier Commissions

At the Elite level, 2-Tier commissions can be modified or declined in bulk from the transactions page independently of the regular (1st Tier) commissions, and are modified/declined just like regular commissions.

Filtering the Transactions page for targeted affiliate commission modification/declines

By Offer ID:

The Transactions page can be filtered by an offer ID by typing the offer ID in the Search field at the top of the Transaction grid

By Affiliate ID:

The Transactions page can be filtered by an Affiliate ID by typing the affiliate ID in the Search field at the top of the Transaction grid

By Date:

The Transactions page can be filtered by a date range by selecting the start and end dates in the date fields at the top right of the Transaction grid.

Example: If you need to modify the commission on all transactions for a specific offer in a certain date range, provide the offer ID in the Search field in the top left of the Transaction grid, and provide a date range in the date fields at the top right.
Click ‘Go’. The resulting transactions list should reflect all transactions for the offer ID provided within the date range provided.

Click the Check/Uncheck All link at the bottom of the Transaction grid.

Select Modify Commissions from the drop-down selection.

Provide the Commission Amount and the Affiliate ID.

Click Submit.
When the page reloads, all the transactions for the provided offer ID in the selected date range will now all have the commission details you set.

Support for Modify/Decline Commissions on legacy/Advanced Transaction Pages

Bulk Modify Commissions on old transaction pages is not supported… you must use the current Transactions page for that feature, or click into the individual transaction record and modify the commission from there.
However, you will find buttons to Decline Commissions (and Decline 2-Tier Commissions at the Elite Level) on the old Transaction pages. This works just like the other Refund/Void/Delete buttons on the page. You will be prompted with the standard Refund disclaimer and confirmation. Click OK to confirm and the commision amount will now reflect the change.

2-Tier Commissions

At the Elite level, 2-Tier commissions can be declined in bulk from the transactions page independently of the regular (1st Tier) commissions, and are declined just like regular commissions. The commission amount on legacy transaction pages is a combined amount of both 1st Tier and 2-tier commissions, so after declining the 2-Tier commission, the commission amount showing will be lessened by the amount of the 2-Tier commission that was declined.
