Eliminating 'same buyer name' purchases for affiliate theft
Solution

Most thieves are foiled by our IP based anti affiliate detection alone.

The best way for you to counteract the very few remaining thieves that bypass IP based detection (not many try that hard) would be through having your own affiliate payout policy.

For example, you might have an affiliate policy that states that affiliates will not be paid until they generate 1, 2, or even 3 sales or reach a certain payout amount. Then you can run payout reports for affiliates who have made a minimum of x sales or commission only.

Another thing you can do is do an affiliate payout search for those who have made a maximum of 1 sale. Then check the single sale affiliate's sales for legitimacy. You can also go to the My Affiliates screen and click the option to show affiliates ranked by number of unique referrals.

Find the ones that have only one sale listed and only 1 or 2 or so clicks with that sale. They are more likely to be theft because so few clicks means no active promotion beyond referring a friend. For now, these measures are higher and more effective than any other affiliate system and will have to do. We may review other options at a later date, but more important major updates are underway and on the development schedule right now, so it will not be soon.
